Answers to all your questions.

How long does the scabbard take to install?

Have a look at my initial installation video here (link) and you can see it just takes a few minutes to do the initial setup.  After the initial setup is done it takes just a few (5-10) seconds to install or remove the scabbards.  Also note that when the scabbard is removed it really is completely removed.  There are no remaining parts or hardware left hanging on the bike.

Will it fit my e-bike, e-trike, or human powered bike?

The short answer is “yes” it will fit basically any e-bike.  In the last few years we have seen an extraordinary array of e-bike, e-trike, etc.. models and our proprietary clamping system has adapted to all of them.

Will my shotgun fit?

As a general statement all shotguns commonly used in clay target shooting will fit just fine. This includes, Over Under's, Auto's, and pumps. If you have side by side or an exceptionally wide fore end please reach out so we can verify.

How much does the scabbard weigh?

Exactly 5 lbs.

How many people are using e-bikes for sporting clays, skeet, and trap around the US?

Based the ones we know of for sure and feedback from tournaments, I would put the number at around 500-1000.  And growing rapidly!  Two years ago it would have been a novelty to see an e-bike at an NSCA tournament.  Now (2026) it is expected.

Do you take it on and off every time you go to the course?

Definitely!  This is one of the main design features of the scabbard and one of the things I like the most about it.  I carry the scabbard in my trunk to the course, install it when I get there, and remove it when I leave.  This way I can use the bike for other things (like riding trails or just around the town) and I don’t have a shotgun scabbard hanging on the side.

What type of e-bike do you recommend?

We do not sell e-bikes, nor do we recommend any particular brand or model. The proprietary mounting system on our scabbards is universal and will fit to any bike.

That being said, everyone has their own particular needs and there is realistically a bike on the market now to suit anyone.

I do however, like to point out a few e-bike features that I have found to be very valuable.

  • Controller: Ensure the controller stays on long enough for you to shoot a station and is easy and quick to turn back on if it does shut off. You don't want to have to wait for the controller to power up when you're ready to move to the next station.
  • Step-Through: A nice wide step-through frame makes for the most comfortable on and off at each station.
  • Tires and wheels: Wider tires are generally better on a clays course. Three and four inch are common now. 20" wheels are great on smoother ground but you might want 26" wheel if your course has rougher trails.

Will it also work on my golf cart?

Absolutely.  The clamps and mounting brackets are basically universal and can be adjusted to mount to just about anything.  You just have to have two points more than about 8-10” away from each other to clamp to.

Do you have a mount for my UTV?

I do not have a quick-tach mount per se like for the bikes. However the clamping system is completely flexible and can mount to almost anything. It also is possible to remove the clamps and attach with bolts to the adjustable L-brackets.

What are the scabbard dimensions?

The nominal inside dimension of padded liner is 31.7" x 4.4" x 1.8".

Can it be mounted to the back of my bike?

Yes.  The EbikeScabbard shotgun scabbard can be mounted just as easily to the rear of the bike as the front.  I have even seen one customer buy two so that he could have one set up for the rear and one for the front to suit his mood for the day.  I personally prefer to mount it to the front just so I can see my gun and know I didn’t leave it in the rack at the last stand.

Is there padding in the bottom to protect the ends of my barrels?

In total there is 1.25” of foam padding in the bottom of the scabbard under the gun barrels (chokes).  As well as keeping the ends of the barrels protected it also keeps the gun from bouncing on rougher terrain.  Note though, please drive responsibly on the course.

What e-bike related problems have you seen?

The only sporting clays e-bike related problem I have seen has been related to the kickstands. Completely unrelated to sporting clays or our scabbards, we have heard of several defective kickstands over the last few years that have just spontaneously broken.  So definitely keep an eye on the condition of your kickstand.

Have you heard of any courses that do not allow e-bikes?

With the move towards larger and larger UTV’s as well as mini trucks, smart cars, Fiat 500’s, and Suzuki Jimny’s, e-bikes are a welcome addition to courses and tournaments.  They take up less room on the course, less room in the parking lot, and do not tear up the ground they drive over.  Not to mention leaving more money in the pockets of their owners to spend on additional events.  That being said, there is exactly one course in the US that does not allow bikes or e-bikes of any sort.
